Leather

We use full grain vegetable tanned leather from Conceria Walpier Tannery in Tuscany Italy to craft 90% of our products. Conceria Walpier Tannery is registered with the Vera Pelle Association; they specialize in the production of vegetable tanned leather for over 40 years, using century tanning techniques. We aim for sustainable manufacturing, aside from its desirable physical properties, we use vegetable tanned leather because it will naturally biodegrade and be less harmful to the environment. 

Animals skin has scratch marks, bite marks, hair, pores / hair follicles, this is not a defect, and it only shows the leather authenticity and how minimal buffing has been done on this surface. 

Each cut of leather is made by hand, original and distinct from the next, slight variations such as character, subtle color shifts, and/or thickness may apply. We’ll never use a cut that may affect the quality and longevity of our products.

Thread

We practice traditional saddle stitching. Sewing is done 100% by hand for aesthetic and durability, this is why choosing the right thread is as important as choosing the right leather for creating a quality and long-lasting product. We use thread produced by Shenzhen Minglang Textile Technology Company who specializes in producing all kinds of high-end threads for well-known luxury brands. 

– Leather Patina

Leather patina is a standard part of the natural aging process for premium leather, this is the gradual physical changes that occur on full grain leather naturally due to usage and exposure. Patina doesn’t affect the quality of the leather, instead it distinguishes full grain leather from other types of leather in which any imperfections on the surface like scars, wrinkles, bites, and scratches have been sand and buffed. 

Tanneries sand the grain of the leather removing any imperfections to create a uniform top-grain leathers which are mostly incorporated into designer handbags, where a mixture of aesthetics consistency is required from the leather and since the pores has been sealed, preventing the leather ability to breathe and adsorb moist this slows down the leather patination on the products.

During usage of vegetable tanned leather, it will accumulate dirt, body oil, sunlight, scratches, and moist which creates a dark and soft sheen over time and age naturally to give a patina effects. Freshly produced leather items are beautiful in their uniformity, but they acquire unrivaled aesthetic appeal through the appearance of imperfections and the emergence of distinct colours.

High-quality leather only improves as it ages and weathers. Patina look is desirable, something that enhances the perceived value of the leather product. A frequently used whisky, cognac and tan leather product is likely to take on a deeper, richer complexion over the years. It is partly this evolving sense of character that we find so endearing.

Aged leather has a distinctively vintage look that is highly sought after, this association with authenticity and timelessness giving leather patina much of its clout. Leather patina is also a reflection of the individual because it responds based on how you use your leather product.

– Break-in New Leather Product

When your new leather product arrives, you may experience it’s tight. This is commonly experienced with leather shoes; they are not always comfortable on your feet the first time you get them because of the curvature of the shoes and your feet but the shoe will adjust with time to fit you perfectly. 

It happens with other leather products like wallets and cardholders in this case. You will experience stiffness when getting your cards in and out. Leather is a natural product after a few weeks of regular use the leather will mould into its new shape of usage and fit perfectly. 

Leather products have an initial break-in period that one must work through. For wallets and cardholders this transformation starts the first time you put your contents in your wallet / cardholder. Each card slot works best with 1 or 2 cards, but the leather pockets are designed to fit the cards snuggly and will take some time to loosen up.
